Our Story
In 1997, at the Garrison Secondary School (now Graydon Sealy Secondary School), the Shuttlers Badminton club was founded by former National Sports Council coach Paul Sealy. Other founders of the club were Ryan Toppin, Shawn Broomes, Adrian Blackman, William Bullen, Mark Daniel and Charmaine Downes.
The facility which comprised of two courts on concrete floors were the home of the club up until 2016. In January 2016, the club transitioned into a new home located in Ealing Groove, Christ Church where there was space for 4 courts, limited seatings, and a small reception area. Originally the courts were painted on concrete flooring in a bright blue colour. Later on that year, the Barbados Badminton Association presented the club with four (4) 1996 Olympic Yonex rubber courts.
In 2019, the club faced issues with their home and had to relocate to a new facility.
Today, the club resides in Searles Factory Yard, Christ Church, which provides 3 courts, a gym area, a bar and meeting area. Improved parking, better venue height and lighting.
